Clinical Images - BrightView XCT

Bone Scan

- No preparation - Injection and scan at appointment time - approx 15 mins. Return for delayed imaging 2 - 4 hours after injection.

Thyroid Scan

- No preparation - Injection and scan - approx 45 mins.

Myocardial Perfusion Scan or Sestamibi

- Preparation - no caffeine for 24 hours prior. No breakfast on morning of test. If diabetic - please contact the practice for directions. Multiple stages. Testing of the heart at rest and stress. Stress testing on a treadmill or pharmacologically. Takes 3 - 4 hours.

Hida or Hepatobiliary Scan

- Preparation - Eat a meal 4 hours before appointment time and then fast. Water is allowed. Injection at appointment time. Return for scanning at 1 hour and 2 hours after injection.

Renal Scan

- Preparation - Drink 1 LT water starting 1 hour before the scan. Finish within 45 mins. Empty bladder as required. Injection at appointment time and scan for 30 minutes.

Parathyroid Scan

- No preparation - Two injections into the vein of the arm at separate times. Multiple imaging sessions. Total time up to 5 hours.

Gastric Emptying Study

- Preparation - Fast from midnight. Eat a meal of eggs toast and water at appointment time. Return at 1, 2 and 4 hours after meal.

Colonic Transit

- Preparation - No laxatives to be taken during the week of the test. Appointment to start on Mondays at 8am only. Water with a radioisotope will be administered. Scans taken at 2:30 Monday afternoon and then 8 am every day through the week. Each scan takes about 10 minutes.
