Women's Imaging

Mammography - A mammogram is a special, high resolution Xray of the breast. A specially trained female radiographer at Sydney Xray Bondi Junction will perform the test, as your comfort is paramount to the staff. The digital mammography equipment used produces high resolution images with reduced radiation dose to the patient.

Obstetrics & Gynaecological Ultrasound

Obstetric sonography (ultrasonography) is the application of medical ultrasonography to obstetrics, in which sonography is used to visualize the embryo or fetus in its mother's uterus (womb). The procedure is often a standard part of antenatal care, as it yields a variety of information regarding the health of the mother and of the fetus, as well as regarding the progress of the pregnancy.

3D Ultrasound is a medical ultrasound technique, often used during pregnancy, providing three dimensional images of the fetus. Often these images are captured rapidly and animated to produce a 4D ultrasound.

In 3D fetal scanning, however, instead of the sound waves being sent straight down and reflected back, they are sent at different angles. The returning echoes are processed by a sophisticated computer program resulting in a reconstructed three dimensional volume image of fetus's surface or internal organs, in much the same way as a CT scan machine constructs a CT scan image from multiple x-rays. 3D ultrasounds allow one to see width, height and depth of images in much the same way as 3D movies but no movement is shown. 4D ultrasounds involve the addition of movement by stringing together frames of 3D ultrasounds in quick succession.

Thanks to recent advances in technology, the dedicated staff at Sydney Xray Bondi Junction can capture your unborn baby’s smile and yawn for you to take home with you.

Gynecological Ultrasound refers to the application of medical ultrasonography to the female pelvic organs, specifically the uterus, the ovaries, the fallopian tubes as well as the bladder and any findings in the pelvis of relevance outside of pregnancy.

Gynecologic sonography is used extensively:

  • to assess pelvic organs,
  • to diagnose and manage gynecological problems including endometriosis, adenomyosis, ovarian cysts and lesions,
  • to exclude ectopic pregnancy,
  • to diagnose gynecologic cancer
  • in infertility treatments to track the response of ovarian follicles to fertility medication.

Our female sonographers provide a caring sensitive environment to ensure our patient privacy is maximized.
